Please dear Santa, bring me a nice tree, a china head doll, a Teddy bear, a pair of ribbons, white and red, a pair of red golf gloves, and a pair of stockings, a broom, a slate and a pencil, nuts and candy and oranges. Please do not forget my dear little sister, Elizabeth. She is 3 years old. She wants a big doll, a broom, a pair of white mittens and a fancy cup and saucer, a pair of black stockings and nuts and oranges and please do not forget dear mamma and papa and Uncle Joseph for he don't want much. He wants a pair of horses and a big shotgun and then he will make the rabbits roll in. Helen Hoye Chestnut Street. Note: Helen Agnes Hoye was the daughter of Peter Hoye and Catherine McGreevy.
