J. Cunningham, LaVale. Miss Yola Hudson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Hudson, Miss Blanche Henderson, Miss Elizabeth House and Miss Hanna Struckman, school teachers, are taking summer courses at the University of Maryland at College Park. They motored to College Park on Wednesday in the automobile of Miss Hudson. Mrs. Gertrude Patton, Massilon, Ohio, will sing Sunday morning at the communion service in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Mrs. Patton is visiting her uncle, D. R. Hutson, 812 Stewart avenue. Mrs. G. A. Teske, wife of Rev. G. A. Teske, and her little son Paul, joined Mr. Teske yesterday at Mountain Lake Park, where he has been in attendance all week upon the Christian Laymen's Conference. The party returned this morning. Miss Janet Gillespie, who spent the winter with her grandfather, Alexander Adams, LaVale, is visiting her father, R. C. Gillespie, at the Gramatan Hotel, Bronxville, N.Y. Mrs. John J. Brooks, LaVale, is confined to her home with a severe cold. Miss Maxine Allen, Baltimore, who has been visiting Mrs. Karl R. Hermann, South George street, has returned to her home. Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Corbin, Rockford, Illinois, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Corbin of Rochester, N.Y., visited their cousiin, Mrs. Edward M. Heber, 510 Boyd Avenue, while enroute to the Besqui-Centennial at Philadelphia, this week. Miss Gretchen Lucas, Ascension street, is visiting in Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Ind., and Canton and Akron, Ohio. Mrs. E. J. Herwig and children, Chester and Kathleen, Meyersdale, are visiting the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Eversole, Alaska, West Virginia. Clarence Lucas and son, Victor, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wageley, V. J. Lucas, Harry Wageley, Sr., and Nanie Haines are camping on South Branch, near Alaska, W. Va. Mrs. Grayson and son Jack, Maryland avenue, are visiting her mother, Mrs. Frank Borgman, Canton, Ohio. Misses Catherine Sullivan and Catherine Naughton returned home after spending a week in Baltimore. The latter's sister, Miss Mary. A. Naughton, formerly of Cumberland, returned home with them. Miss Violette Wright, Philadelphia, is visiting Mrs. Laura Wendrich, North Mechanic street. Mrs. H. D. Smith and son, Tyrone, Pa., who visited Mrs. Laura Wendrich, mother of Mrs. Smith, returned home. Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Fisher are in Washinton to attend the first showing of the new motion picture from Victor Hugo's novel, "Les Miserables" at Poli's Theater. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Mills have returned from Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Va., and Savannah, Georgia. Mrs. Charles R. McCombs and little son, Wheeling, W. Va. are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Austin V. Williams, Fayette street. Mrs. McCombs was Miss Mae Williams, daughter of Mr. Williams. John Williams Avirett returned yesterday from Washington, where he has been visiting since the close of the Harvard Law School, and will spend the summer with his mother, Mrs. James W. Thomas, Rose Hill. Mrs. W. L. Graves, of Martinsburg, is visiting relatives in Cumberland for two weeks.
