Ridenbaugh Held. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- One woman is fatally injured, dying later in Memorial Hospital and five were hurt in a motor crash at Hill Top Drive and Louisiana avenue yesterday at 2:15 p.m. The victim, is Mrs. Emma Alburtis 71, widow of Otha H. Alburtis, 478 Goethe street, who died at 10:30 p.m. from internal injuries, fractured ribs and a fractured collarbone. She was a passanger in the car of Mrs. Deborah Burkett, 474 Goethe street, which was ascending Hill Top Drive. Mrs. Burkett suffered lacerations and bruises and was treated in Memorial Hospital, which was near the scene of the accident. Went Through Stop Sign Mrs. Burkett's car was struck by the car of John Walter Ridenbaugh, 21, of 354 Williams street, who is alleged to have entered Hill Top drive from Louisianna avenue at thirty miles per hour, disregarding the boulevard stop sign which is supposed to protect through traffic on the drive. He is in Allegany Hospital under guard, suffering from head injuries which will be x-rayed today. Others who were injured, all passengers in Ridenbaugh's car, were Miss Hazel Powell, 6 Race street, cuts and bruises; Miss Flossie Athey, Olympia Hotel, cuts an bruises; and Miss Martha Corwell, 428 Arch street, cuts and bruises. Charles Elliott, father of Mrs. Burkett, was also a passenger in his daughter's car, but escaped injury. State Police Investigate The accident was investigated by Sergeant John J. Cassidy of the Maryland State Police and Motorcycle Patrolman Custis Kime of the city police. All of the victims excepting Mrs. Alburtis and Ridenbaugh were able to leave the hospital after dispensary treatment. Those at Memorial Hospital were attended by Dr. Frank M. Wilson, while Riden- baugh is under the care of Dr. William L. Burns. Ridenbaugh's car was overturned by the impact and the occupants thrown out. Mrs. Burkett's car was not upset but was badly damaged. Mrs. Alburtis is survived by three daughters and two sons; Mrs. Sue Lazarus, Roanoke, Va.; Mrs. Emma (Emily) Seifert, Bedford, Pa.; Mrs. Frank A. Shober, Andrew and John Alburtis, this city. Her husband died about ten months ago. He was a printer, who worked here for over 40 years. He came from Martinsburg, W. Va. Alburtis, 478 Goethe Street, were held this morning at the home, with interment in Greenmount Cemetary. Rev. James A. Dwyer assistant pastor of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, conducted the services. The pallbearers were: S. A. Grabenstein, J. H. Sticher, Eugene Connell, Benjamin Zarger, Lester Sibley and William Twigg.
