"Piedmont Herald" Piedmont, West Virginia, Thu 13 Oct 1932: "
Mrs. Mary Carey, aged 73 years, was found dead in bed yesterday morning at the home 
of her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Welsh, Westernport. She had high blood pressure for 
several years and it is presumed she suffered a stroke of paralysis during the night. 
Apparently, however, she was in good health when she retired. Besides her daughter, 
Mrs. Welsh, she leaves the following children: Richard Carey, Piedmont; John Carey, 
Sacramento, California; Mrs. H. E. Kraft, Baltimore; and Mrs. Harold Hadley, Arnold, 
Pa. A son, Peter Carey, died last April at Hamilton, Ohio. Her husband was the late 
James Carey. The funeral service will be held tomorrow, Friday morning at St. 
Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, 
Lonaconing."
