Cleaver, former resident, who died Friday at the home of his son, George "Jerry" Cleaver, Baltimore, was celebrated Tuesday morning in St. Peter's Catholic Church by Rev. George Pugh, assistant pastor. Monsignor A. Scarpati, pastor, was in the sanctuary. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were John Watson, Joseph Moran, Paul Laffey, Joseph Mulledy, John Determan and James Rafter. A native of Ohio, Mr. Cleaver came to the tri-towns area around 1918 and was employed for over fifteen years by the Piedmont Grocery company as a salesman. He was a former commissioner of Westernport. For about nine years, Mr. Cleaver had been a salesman for the C. D. Kenny company, Cumberland, and recently had been working in the Winchester, VA area. Becoming ill about three weeks ago, he was taken to St. Agnes Hospital, Baltimore, and later to the home of his son. His wife, Mrs. Bess Gilmore Cleaver, died 19 Oct 1950. Besides his son, he is survived by a brother, James Cleaver, Wilmington, Ohio, and one grandson, Gregory Cleaver. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Cleaver and son, Gregory, of Baltimore, accompanied the body here and James Cleaver, of Wilmington, OH, also attended the funeral."
