Cosgrove, 69, retired C. & P. railroad engineer, who died suddenly last Friday afternoon at his home at Franklin, were held Tuesday morning at St. Peter's Catholic church. Solemn Requiem Mass were celebrated with Rev. A. Scarpati, pastor, as celebrant; Rev. Joseph Moran of St. Thomas of the Apostles church, Washington, as deacon; Rev. Victor Dowgiallo, assistant pastor of St. Peter's church, as sub-deacon. Father Scarpati delivered the sermon. Rev. James C. Murphy, of St. Mary's church, Lonaconing; Rev. William E. Kelly, of Westminster, and Rev. Robert E. Arthur, of St. Patrick's Washington, were in the sanctuary. Emmet Haran and Mrs. Edward Pendergast were the soloists. The active pallbearers were his nephews and grandsons, Joseph Ryan, Richar Ryan, Carroll Cross, Paul Cuff, Edward Murphy, William Murphy, Martin Flynn, Earl Hill, Robert Kelly, Frank Kelly, Reginald Herbert, James Collins. Honorary pallbearers were representatives of the Knights of Columbus Catholic Benevolent Legion, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Ancient Order of Hibernians, and Holy Name Society; Executives of the Baltimore and Ohio and Cumerland and Pennsylvania railroads, employees of Queen City station, and the Mt. Savage and Westernport shops, and other fellow employees of the C. & P. railroad. Out-of-town people here for the funeral included: Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Flynn, Mrs. Anna Curran and daughter, Miss Margaret Curran, and John Miller, of BraddockPa.; Edward Walsh, Mrs. Joseph Rodgers, of Clarksburg; Miss Ella Cuff, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Murphy, of Philadelphia, Pa.; Miss Ann Hurley, Miss Ann Guyther, of Washington, D. C. A son of the late Martine and Katherine Connally Cosgrove, he resided in this community all his life. For fifty-one years he was in the employ of the Cumberland and Pennsylvania railroad and was retired Oct. 1, 1938. Surviving are his widow, the former Miss Mary Cuff, and eight children: Mrs. A. W. Cross, Washington, D. C.; Franis Cosgrove, Westernport; Sister Maria Joseph, of the faculty of the West Philadelphia Catholic girls' high school, Philadelphia, Pa.; Joseph Cosgrove, Cleveland; Mrs. J. M. Ryand and Mrs. Roland Nofsinger, both of Luke; Michael Emmett Cosgrove and Robert Cosgrove, at home. Two sisters, Mrs. Patrick Flynn, Braddock, Pa., and Mrs. Edward Walsh, Clarksburg, W.
