A retired coal miner, he was a veteran of World War I and a member of Farrady Post 24, American Legion. Born in Lonaconing, he was a son of the late Martin and Laura (Taylor) Cosgrove. Surviving are his wife, Stella (McKenzie) Cosgrove; a son, Larry S. Cosgrove, at home; two daughters by a previous marriage, Mrs. Helen Snyder, here and Mrs. Naomi Garrett, Baltimore; a brother, Wilbur Cosgrove, here; a sister, Mrs. Eliza Plummer, here; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
