Obituary from July 12, 1900 Lonaconing newspaper (??Sterling Silver) The Late Harry Creutzburg - Additional Comment on the Death of a Popular Young Man. On Saturday afternoon, June 30, at 3 o'clock, at the residence of his parents in Barton, there sank to rest the spirit of Harry Cooper Creutzburg, after an illness of several years duration of stomach and nervous affections. The deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Creutzburg, and was in the 25th year of his age. He had been a clerk in his father's store until his health became so poor that he was unable to continue further his occupation in this line, since which time he had been under treatment for the diseases which had stricken him. He was of a very kindly and amiable disposition and was popular with everyone with whom he came in contact. At times he was able to be out and mingle with his friends for a few days, but the acute attacks of his disease returned until he sank to rest among the relatives and immediate friends who had loved him most and who realized his true worth. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon, July 2, from the family residence. The services were conducted by Rev. J. W. Fleming, of the M. E. church, assisted by John L. Walsh, of Lonaconing, who had performed the baptismal sacrament upon the deceased 24 years ago during his pastorate of this charge. The interment was in Laurel Hill cemetery, and the funeral was one of the largest ever seen here, being attended by friends from Piedmont, Lonaconing, Frostburg, Keyser and other points. Monterey Lodge, No. 90, Knights of Pythias, of which he was a member, attended and paid their last sad rites to their deceased friend and brother. A number of beautiful floral offerings were sent by loving ones as a tribute of their esteem for their young companion and friend. ****************** Edith is the daughter of Henry and Matilda Creutzburg.
