"Piedmont Herald" Piedmont, West Virginia, Fri 12 Nov 1920: "
Mrs. Veronica Carey Cross, wife of William O. Cross, died at the Hoffman Hospital 
Keyser, Friday evening, Nov. 5, following an operation. Mrs. Cross was 26 years of 
age and a very attractive young woman. The remains were brought here to the home of 
her mother, Mrs. Mary Carey, on Green street. Mrs. Cross is survived by her mother, 
her husband and infant son, and by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Harry 
Hadley, of Lonaconing; Mrs. Lloyd Welsh, of Westernport; Mrs. Herschel Kraft, of 
Baltimore; John, Peter and Richard, at home."
