Mr. Dailey, Joseph Stone and John Franklin were loading the last car of the shift, when apiece of rock fell from the roof, striking Mr. Dailey on the head and crushed him to the ground. Stone and Franklin fled for their lives and gave the alarm. When assistance came it was found that another piece of rock had fallen on the first. When the unfortunate man was released, it was found that he was dead. The body was taken to the residence of Michael Dailey in Franklin where deceased had been boarding. The coroner came up from Cumberland and made inquiry as to the cause of death, but did not deem it necessary to summon a jury. Deceased is survived by his wife and three very young children, who reside at Borden Shaft. His father and mother and brothers. Frank at Westernport; Lloyd, George, Patrick and Thomas and sisters, Annie Josephine and Mary. The funeral took place this morning with a solemn requiem mass at the Catholic church. Father Heath officiating. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery at Westernport. It was a very large funeral.
