WESTERNPORT -- Bert Shields Dayton, 77, died last night at his home, 223 
Hammond Street, following an illness of two years. 
   Born in Westernport, he was a son of the late Henry C. and Emma (Dawson) 
Dayton.
   Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mamie (Harrison) Dayton; two sons, Lonnie F. 
Dayton, Keyser, and Donald M. Dayton, Baltimore;  two daughters, Misses 
Marguerite M. and Emma S. Dayton, both of Baltimore;  two brothers, Lonnie J. 
and Marshall M. Dayton, both of Westernport; a sister, Mrs. Jack Foote, 
Lonaconing, and a grandchild.
   The body will remain at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, where services 
will be conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.  Rev. L. E. Crowsen, pastor of 
Trinity Methodist Church, Piedmont, will officiate and interment will be in 
Philos Cemetery.
