DEAN OAKLAND – John Allen Dean, 22, formerly of Oakland, died this morning at his residence in Cleveland, apparently of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He lived at 11104 Detroit Avenue there. Born in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., he was a son of Mrs. Gertrude (Rexrode) Dean and the late Roy Dean. Mr. Dean was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Oakland was an acolyte. He served three years in the Army with the 40th Armor Division in Alaska. He was employed at a steel mill in Cleveland. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Andrew (Kaputa) Dean; three sistes, Miss Carolyn Dean and Miss Elizabeth Dean, both of Oakland, and Miss Beverly Ann Dean, Washington, and two brothers, Roy Dean Jr., Cleveland, and Charles Dean, Oakland. The body will be at the Minnich Funeral Home where friends will be received tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted there Monday at 2 p.m. by Rev. W. Shelby Walthall, rector of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, and burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. on Monday.
