DISHONG FROSTBURG – Alfred Leroy Dishong, 79, of 159 Frost Avenue, was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head yesterday afternoon at his home. Police said the victim was discovered sitting in a chair in the living room of his home by his brother-in-law, Walter E. Spiker, who resided with him. He had been shot in the forehead with a .22 caliber rifle. Assistant Chief Leslie Bevans and Patrolman Jack Starkey of Frostburg City Police investigated. The deputy medical examiner’s office said death was the result of a self-inflicted gun wound. Mr. Dishong was born in Johnstown, Pa., a son of the late Charles and Martha (Orner) Dishong and moved to Frostburg at an early age. He retired from Kelly- Springfield Tire Company 15 years ago. A veteran of World War I, he was a former member of the John R. Fairgrieve VFW Post and of United Brethren Church. He is survived by his wife, Helen Cora (Spiker) Dishong; four brothers, Charles and William Dishong, Latrobe, Pa.; Samuel Dishong, Hyndman, and Herman Dishong, Frostburg; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Wampler, Frostburg; Mrs. Goldie Walker, Meyersdale; Mrs. Nellie Shoemaker, Boynton, Pa.; Mrs. Sylvia Shoemaker, Stoystown, Pa., and Mrs. Marie Carbaugh, Salisburg, Pa., and one granddaughter, Patricia D. Williams, Toledo, Ohio.
