Duffy, who for the past 25 years has been connected with the B&O railroad as conductor on a third division, died at his home in Cumberland Friday, March 2, 1900 of pneumonia after a week’s illness. Mr. Duffy was born in County Rosscommon, Ireland, 52 years ago, coming to this country when quite a young man. Shortly after his arrival here he went to railroading and followed that vocation until his death. He was well and favorably known by both the officials and the men of the road and was always looked upon as being one of the most trusted employees. He is survived by his wife and three children, Patrick, John and Maggie. The funeral took place Monday in Westernport at St. Peters Catholic church, with interment in the Catholic cemetery. The funeral was in charge of the Order of Railway Conductors, of which Mr. Duffy was a member and in which order he carried a life insurance policy."
