Savage--William M. Farrell, aged 59 years, a retired merchant, died Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock following an operation at the Allegany Hospital, Cumberland. Mr. Farrell had been in ill health for several months but was able to be about until last Monday when he was taken critically ill. Mr. Farrell was born in Mt. Savage and was a son of the late Patrick and Catherine Farrell. For twenty-five years he conducted a store here. He retired from business about one year ago. Mr. Farrell was a member of the B. P. O. Elks, Frostburg; the Loyal Order of Moose, Williams Council Young Men's Institute, the Holy Name Society of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Anna Porter, one son, George Farrell, three daughters, Mrs. DeSales McDermitt, Mt. Savage; Miss Naomi Farrell, a student nurse, St. Joseph's Hospital, Baltimore, and Miss Zeta Farrell, at home. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: John D. Farrell, Thomas Farrell, Mrs. William Brannon, Mt. Savage; Mrs. Catherine Cain, New York city, and Mrs. Ella Pressman, Frostburg. The funeral will take place Wednesday morning with a high mass at 9 o'clock at St. Patrick's Catholic church. Rev. T. H. Tragesser, pastor, will officiate.
