_________________________________________________________________________ *****The Piedmont Herald, Friday 29 April 1910 Mr Thomas Gannon died Sunday (24 April 1910) at his home in Barton, after an illness of three weeks with pneumonia. He is survived by his wife and thirteen children, four of the latter being married - Mrs. Annie Lannon, wife of John Lannon; Mrs. Stella McGuigan, wife of John McGuigan; Mrs. Bertha Philpot, and Thomas Gannon, who married Miss Annie Gentry. His wife was Miss Bessie Creutzburg, sister of Henry Creutzburg, merhcant of Barton, and former county road director. Mr. Gannon was a member of St Gabriel's Catholic Church of Barton. He was a miner and had been employed in the Swanton mine. *****The Piedmont Herald, Thursday 26 September 1940 Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Creutzburg Gannon, 87, Widow of Thomas Gannon, formerly of Barton, who died early Sunday in a Philadelphia hospital. The remains had been brought to the home of her son, Harman Gannon at Barton. Funeral services were held at St Gabriel's Catholic Church, Barton, yesterday (25 Sep 1940), and interment was in the church cemetery there. Nine children survive: Mrs. John McGuigan, Westernport; Mrs. Herman Davis, Keyser; Mrs Bertha Kelly and Miss Patricia Gannon, Philadelphia; Harmon Gannon, Barton; John Gannon, Cumberland; Thomas Gannon, Pittsburgh; Leo Gannon, Arizona, and William Gannon, Philadelphia. Mrs Gannon was the mother of eight other children, now dead. *****The Piedmont Herald, Thursday 20 October 1922: Emmett Gannon, a native of Barton, who survived a broken back eighteen years ago, died Sunday (16 Oct 1922) at his home in Barton, of apoplexy, aged fifty years. He sustained the injury in a copper mine at Bisbee, Arizona. He is survived by his mother and the following brothers and sisters: John Gannon, Cumberland; Mrs. John McGuigan, Westernport; Catherine Gannon and Mrs. Bertha Kelly, both of Philadelphia; Miss Patricia Gannon of Rockefeller Institute Hospital, New York; William Gannon, stationed on the USS Huron (sic), in the Turkish war zone; Leo and James Gannon, Bisbee, Arizona; Harmon and John Gannon and Miss Marcella Gannon, at home. The funeral was held from St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Barton on Wednesday morning (19 Oct 1922), with interment in the Church cemetery. *****The Piedmont Herald, Thursday 20 January 1944: John S. Gannon, native of Barton, died Tuesday (18 Jan 1944) at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, where he had been a patient since December 21st. The body was brought to the Boal Funeral home, Westernport. Funeral services will be held tomorrow (21 Jan 1944) at 9 o’clock at St. Peter’s Church, Westernport. Interment will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow. Mr. Gannon was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gannon of Barton. He had been employed as a railroader until a few years ago. Four sisters and four brothers survive: Mrs. John McGuigan, Westernport; Mrs. Bertha Kelly, Philadelphia; Mrs. Herman Davis, Keyser: Miss Patricia Gannon, Washington DC; Harmon Gannon, Barton; Thomas Gannon, Pittsburgh; William Gannon, Philadelphia; and Leo Gannon, Tuscon, Arizona. *****The Piedmont Herald, Thursday 21 July 1949: Funeral services for Miss Patricia Gannon, 53, a native of Barton, who died last Saturday (16 Jul 1949) in Doctor’s Hospital, Philadelphia, were conducted Tuesday (19 Jul 1949) in St. Matthew’s Cathedral, Washington DC, by the Rev. Father Arthur, a cousin. Burial was in the Barton Catholic Cemetery. After her graduation from Barton High School, she was also graduated from the nurses training school at Mercy Hospital, Baltimore, and served as a supervisor at Rockefeller Institute in New York, before joining the nursing staff at Doctor’s Hospital. She is survived by three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Bertha Kelly, Philadelphia; Mrs. Herman Davis, Keyser; Mrs. John McGuigan, Westernport; Harman Gannon, Barton; and Thomas Gannon, Pittsburgh.
