Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland, Sat 26 Aug 1944:  
"A requiem mass was held this morning in St. Patrick's Catholic church for George 
Walter "Sonny" Geatz, 53, local restaurant proprietor, and well-known former 
baseball player in this section, who died suddenly of a heart attack late Wednesday 
afternoon at his home, 177 North Mechanic street.  The Rev. Thomas A. Hardesty, 
assistant pastor of St. Patrick's church, was celebrant, and the Rev. Charles W. 
Bogan and the Rev. Francis J. McKeown, of St. Patrick's church, were in the 
sanctuary. Interment was in the church cemetery."
