"Evening Times" Cumberland, Maryland 16 Jan 1895: 
"Death of a Young Lady-Lizzie, the eldest daughter of Anthony Gerdeman, 
died at the residence of her father on Pear street yesterday evening 
after a lingering illness from pneumonia. Miss Gerdeman was about 
twenty one years of age, and a very attractive and pleasing young lady. 
The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving the residence, No. 28 
Pear alley, at 2:30 o'clock in the afternoon, and the interment will 
be made in the German Catholic cemetery. Miss Gerdeman worked in the 
etching department at the Narrows glass factory, and it is understood 
the employees of that department will attend the funeral in a body."
