Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland, Wednesday, February 19, 1941:  
"Norman George Gerdeman, Sr., 62, brick contractor, died at his Spring Gap home 
this morning.  He was the son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Schellhaus) Gerdeman.  
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Ellen (Smith) Gerdeman; a son, Norman G. Gerdeman, 
Jr.; a daughter, Mrs. J. W. Wheeler; a brother, Henry Gerdeman; three sisters, Mrs. 
Jacob Ruppert, Mrs. James W. Cook, and Mrs. Elizabeth Hast.  He was a member of SS. 
Peter and Paul Catholic Church."
