"Charleston Daily Mail" Charleston, West Virginia, 22 Feb 1941: 
"Mr. Michael Gillespie, 63-year-old employee of the Wyatt Coal Company 
at Sharon, died Friday afternoon in a Charleston Hospital following an 
extended illness. He had been a resident of Sharon 30 years. The body 
was removed to the Bartlett and Wynns Mortuary at Belle. Survivors 
include his widow, Mrs. Rosa Hendricks Gillespie; three sons, Edward 
and Michael, Jr., of Sharon, and Paul who is with the U. S. Army 
stationed in the Hawaiian Islands; a step-son, H. R. Cotton, of 
Sharon; two step-daughters, Mrs. Ralph Welch, of Sharon, and Mrs. 
Emzy McClure, of Miami; two brothers, John Gillespie, of Baltimore, 
and Andrew Gillespie, of Fairmont; a sister, Miss Martha Gillespie, 
of Lonaconing, Md."
