Mr Gilmore was employed as yard conductor by the W.Va. Central railway and was shifting some cars, making a running siwtch at the time. He was on top of a box car and while putting down the brakes the iron hook attached to the break chain broke, the sudden release of the wheel overbalancing him throwing him to the ground with great force in front of the moving cars which ran over him. Despite the efforts of doctors, he passed away quietly Saturday night. Michael Joseph Gilmore, is the eldest son of Mr. John C. Gilmore and brother to Mrs. Bessie Fleming, wife of Michael Fleming. Miss Mary Gilmore, Messrs. John T. Gilmore and P. J. Gilmore, each of whom feel very keenly this providential affiction. Mr. Gilmore would have been thirty-two years of age the 5th of next October. Nine years ago last December, he was united in marriage at Elk Garden to Miss Rose Kenney. A wife and three children survive him. Mr. Gilmore was raised in this community and was an honorable man and good citizen and was held in high esteem. The funeral took place Tuesday from St. Peters Catholic church of which deceased had long been a faithful member. The members of Knobley Division No. 183 O.R.C. of Keyser, of which Mr. Gilmore was a member, attended the funeral as did members of Mountain Lodge No. 267 B. of R.T. of the same city and the O.R.C. of Grafton and Brunswick."
