"The Leavenworth Times" Leavenworth, Kansas, 28 Oct 1923: "
Funeral services for Sister Bertha Graney, one of the pioneer Sisters of St. 
Mary's Academy, were said at 9:30 o'clock yesterday morning at the Academy. 
Interment was in the afternoon. Sister Bertha, who was 76 years old, died 
early Friday morning at St. John's Hospital after a four months illness."

"The Leavenworth Times" Leavenworth, Kansas, 26 Oct 1923: "
Sister Bertha Graney entered St. Mary's Academy Community in Leavenworth, 
Kansas in 1867. Two years after entering the Community, Sister Bertha went 
to Helena, Montana, where she remained until 1896, returning to Kansas then. 
Sister Bertha's relatives live in Piedmont, West Virginia."

NOTE: this is the daughter of William Francis Graney and Ellen Welsh.
