Cumberland News, Cumberland, Maryland, 28 Aug 1966: "Mrs. Elizabeth L. (Bessie) 
Hughes, 76, wife of John T. Hughes, 411 Decatur Street, died yesterday at Sacred 
Heart Hospital where she had been a patient four weeks.  Born at Westernport, 
she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Bridget (Gilmore) Moran.  She was a 
member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Sodality.  Also surviving are 
four sons John A. and Francis Hughes both of Cumberland; Robert Hughes, Coca 
Beach, Fla., and William B. Hughes, Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Helen 
Rotruck and Mrs. Mary J. Rice, both of Cumberland; a brother, DeSales Moran, 
Westrnport, and 16 grandchildren.  The body is at the Silcox Mineral Residence 
where friends will be received from 2 to 4 p. m. and 7 to 9 p. m.  A requiem 
mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a. m. at St.  Patrick's Church and 
burial will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.  The rosary will be recited at 
he funeral home tomorrow at 8 p. m."
