Though he had been in ill health for some months from diabetes, his death resulted from pneumonia from which he was ill since Friday. Mr. Hughes was a veteran of the World War, having served in the Navy. Besides his wife he is survived by three children, Mary Jane, Rose and James, and seven brothers: Joseph Hughes, Ridgeley, W. Va.; John Hughes, Midland, Md.; Thomas Hughes, Louisville, Ky.; Patrick and Michael Hughes, Ocean, Md.; Peter Hughes, Gilmore, Md.; and Frank Hughes, Franklin, and one sister, Mrs. Benjamin Fazenbaker, Keyser. The funeral service was conducted yesterday morning at St. Peter's Catholic Church, the pastor, Rev. John A. Smith, officiating. Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery."
