Hughes, Jr., 40, a native of Allegany County, who was fatally stabbed Thursday night at the Lorton (Va.) Federal Reformatory where he was a guard, will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Frostburg. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Hughes had been a guard at the federal reformatory for four years. He had worked 18 years at the Celanese plant here before taking the guard position. He was born at Ocean, near Midland, a son of Michael J. Hughes, Sr., Ocean and the late Mary (Bushe) {sic} Hughes. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jane (Leake) Hughes, five children, James R., William F., Mary L., John P., and James L. Hughes, all at home in Woodbridge, Va.; a brother, Peter Hughes, Orlando, Fla.; and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Goodrich, Cumberland, and Mrs. Catherine Winebrenner, Detroit.
