He was president of the Midland Mining Company but had retired from other mining interests. A son of the late James and Margaret Jones, pioneer settlers. Mr. Jones did not see his father until seven years old as James Jones left Frostburg to take part in the California gold rush and did not return for seven years. Mr. Jones was a member of the First Mthodist Church and a Mason. He was greatly interested in flowers and hundreds came to see his garden. Surviving are four sons, John and James Jones, both of Cresaptown; George Jones, Washington; Robert Jones at home, principal of the Midland School; a daughter, Miss Margaret Jones, teacher in College Elementary School; a brother George Jones Frostburg.
