Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland, April 16, 1929:  
"George E. Kean, 69, of 230 Beall Street, well-known retired hotel owner, died 
at 4 p.m. yesterday at Western Maryland Hospital.  Mr. Kean had, at various 
times, operated hotels in Hagerstown, Williamstown, Hancock and Mt. Savage.  
He is survived by one brother and three sisters:  Patrick Kean, Mrs. Mary 
O'Neill, and Mrs. Catherine Thomas, this city, and Mrs. Elizabeth Morrisey, of 
Pittsburgh, Pa.  Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. 
Patrick's Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery."
