Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland, 8 Nov 1909: 
"The funeral of William Kirkpatrick took place from his late home in Barton 
yesterday afternoon. Services were held at the house, the Rev. William Anthony 
officiating, assisted by his choir. Interment was made in Laruel Hill cemetery. 
William Kirkpatrick was a brakeman on the B & O and, while riding on the engine 
of his train, fell off and was so severely injured that he died a few hours 
later in the Miner's Hospital in Fairmont. He was only 19 years old."


Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland, 6 Nov 1929: 
"Twenty Years Ago--William Kirkpatrick, of Barton, a B. & O. trainman, died of 
injuries received at Calfax, in a fall from his train."
