The victim, Mrs. Jane (Hamilton) Leasure, of 611 Elm Street, died instantly. Coroner Goff Lilly of Charleston said that death resulted from a fractured skull. Mrs. Leasure has been visiting her brother, Lawson W. Hamilton, when she tripped and fell down the basement steps as she entered the home by a side door on her return from a grocery store. Ironically, two of Mrs. Leasure's three daughters, Mrs. Howard Nesbitt and Mrs. Bessie Henry, both of Cumberland, arrived in Charleston Wednesday to drive their mother back to Cumberland, only to find that she had died. Besides her brother and two daughters, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Joseph Wilkins, Miami, Fla; a son, Thurman Leasure, Cocoa, Fla; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was a member of Kingsley Methodist Church. Mrs. Leasure was born at Town Creek, a daughter of the late Andrew and Susan (Huff) Hamilton. Her husband, John Leasure, died in 1955. Also surviving are two other brothers, Lawson Hamilton and Estle Hamilton, both of Charleston. The body is at the Hafer Funeral Home where services will be conducted tomorrow at 3:30 pm by Rev. Jacob H. Snyder, pastor of Kingsley Methodist Church and Rev. M.J. King, paster of First Church of God. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A native of oldtown, he was a son of the late Isaac and Martha (Pennell) Leasure. He was a member of Kingsley Methodist Church, Duke Memorial Bible Class of the church and the Patriotic Sons of America. Besides his widow he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Howard Nesbitt and Mrs. John Henry, both of this city; and Mrs. Joseph Wilkins of Miami, Fla.; a son, Thurman F. Leasure, Cocoa, Fla; a sister, Mrs. Amanda Dicken, this city; 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. ======== >From Cumberland Times, no date: Open House held Sunday afternoon at the home of their daughter, Mrs. J.B. Henry, 231 Williams Street, marked the 50th Anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. John Leasure of Oldtown. The couple was married 50 years ago yesterday, February 22 at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hamilton, Town Creek, with the Rev. Mr. Harris pastor of the Flintstone circuit, officiating. Mr. and Mrs. leasure have four children. Mrs. Olive Barncord, Mrs. Joseph Wilkins and Mrs. J.B.
