"The Cumberland Times" Cumberland, Maryland: 
"George William (Brindle) Long, 70, of 302 1/2 Pulaski Street, died yesterday at Baker VA 
Center, Martinsburg, W. Va., where he had been a patient two weeks. Born in Cumberland, 
he was a son of the late Peter H. and Fanny (Gorman) Long. He was a retired City of 
Cumberland employe and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Holy Name 
Society and the American Legion. Surviving are his widow, Mary Irene (Dailey) Long; two 
sons, George W. Long, Jr., and John J. Long; a daughter, Mrs. Norman F. Geatz, Jr., city; 
a brother, John J. Long, city, and a sister, Mrs. John Schwarzenbach, city, and nine 
grandchildren. The body is at the Scarpelli Funeral Home where friends will be received 
today from 7 until 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m."
