Love, 84, of 1112 St. Louis Ave., died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Belleville. He was a retired Ralston-Purina Mills Co. weighman. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Robins Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Mr. Love was born in Newburg, W.Va., and came to East St. Louis in 1916. He had been a Baltimore and Ohio Railroad engineer in the East. He went to work for Purina on arriving here. He retired in 1940. Mr. Love had been in ill health about a year. He entered St. Mary's Hospital early in July, and was transferred to the nursing home a month later. He died of cancer of the esophagus. Survivors include two daughters, Miss Alma C. Love and Miss Catherine M. Love, both at home; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Cobb, East St. Louis; one brother Robert L. Love, Macon, Georgia. Mr. Love's wife Mary died in 1937."
