"Cumberland Evening Times" Cumberland, Maryland, Fri 7 May 1926: " JOSEPH A. MAUREY FOUND DEAD AT HOME BY WIFE-Well Known Resident of Frostburg Suffered Heart Attack Last Week-Joseph A. Maurey, 61, Ormond street, Frostburg, was found dead in bed this morning at 8:30 o'clock by his wife, death apparently having come to him through the night from the recurrence of a heart attack which he suffered last week. Mr. Maurey has been confined to his home since he was stricken last week, but was apparently improving and his death today came as a shock. A native of Frostburg and a lifelong resident, Mr. Maurey was known throughout the county. He was a carpenter by trade and was employed on some of the largest school and public buildings in the county. He was a member of St. Michael's Church and the Carpenters Union of Cumberland. A brother, Frank W. Maurey, of Cumberland, died about three months ago. In addition to his widow, Mrs. Mary Maurey, one daughter and four sons survive. They are: Mrs. Emma Lynch, Ormond street, Frostburg; Paul and Edward Maurey, Frostburg; Frank Maurey, Cumberland, and Giles Maurey, Quantlco, Va. Mr. Maurey also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Mary Lavelle, Johnstown, Pa..; Mrs. Anna Church, Richmond, Va., and Miss Rose Maurey, New York City." MAUREY, Joseph J. "Cumberland Evening Times" Cumberland, Maryland, Mon 10 May 1926: " Funeral of Joseph J. Maurey-Frostburg, Md., May 10-The funeral of Joseph J. Maurey, who died at his home on Ormond street, Friday morning, was held from St. Michael's Catholic church, this morning May 10, 1926 at ? o'clock. Rev. James Quinn sang requiem high mass. The pallbearers were: Jerome Thompson, Jerome Burkley, William Sullivan, George Feldman, Thomas Feldman and Frank Nairn, Flowerbearers: Spates and John Byrnes. Interment was in the church cemetery."
