The Cumberland News, Cumberland, Maryland, Sat 29 July 1967: 
"Richard McFarland, 47, San Francisco, died Wednesday, in St. 
Mary's Hospital, there, after a two and a half year illness.  
Born in Lonaconing he was the son of the late David and Edith 
(Pendlebury) McFarland.  He was a veteran of World War II and 
Korea and had been employed by the American Can Company.  
Surviving are two sisters, Miss Lillian McFarland and Miss 
Catherine McFarland, both of 116 Greene Street.  The body is 
at the Halstead Funeral Home, San Francisco, where the body 
will be cremated today.  The remains will be placed in the 
Woodlawn Memorial Park, there."
