The Cumberland Evening Times
Mr. John McGreevy, Sr. died Thursday morning at the home of his son, Bernard, 
in Paradise, a suburb of Midland.  Mr. McGreevy was one of the community's 
most beloved and respected citizens, and although he was in failing health for 
some time, his death came as a shock and surprise.  Mr. McGreevy was born in 
Durham county, England, 75 years ago.  He married Miss Elizabeth McPartland, 
and came to this country in 1870, settling in Indiana, where he remained two 
years.  He then came to Westernport, and was engaged in coal mining ever since 
coming to Ocean, 18 years ago.  Since the death of his wife, nine years ago, 
he made his home with his children.  He is survived by three sons-Bernard, 
John Jr., and Owen-and three daughters-Mrs. James D. Kenney, of Midland; Mrs. 
James Bryson and Mrs. John Kirk of Wilmerding, Pa.
