"The Evening Times" Cumberland, Maryland, Thursday 3 Apr 1958: 
"Westernport-John Joseph McGreevy, 67, of 133 Main Street, died this morning in Potomac 
Valley Hospital at Keyser. A native of Barton, he was a son of the late Michael and Anna 
(Footen) McGreevy. He had lived in the Tri-Towns more than 50 years. He was formerly 
employed at the Luke plant of the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company where he retired 
in January of 1956 with 42 years of service. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic 
Church; the Holy Name Society of the church; Piedmont Council 685, Knights of Columbus; 
Chief Justice Taney General Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus; the Cumberland 
Eagles and Cumberland Moose Lodge. His wife, Mrs. Elsie (Legge) McGreevy, preceded him 
in death. Survivors include a son, Joseph McGreevy, at home, a brother, Thomas McGreevy, 
of here, and three grandchildren. A requiem mass will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church 
on Monday at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, here. The body will be at 
the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont after 7 p.m. tomorrow. The family will receive 
friends there tomorrow from 7 until 9:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 2 until 5:30 
p.m. and & until 9:30 p.m."
