Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland, 31 Aug 1925: 
"AGED RETIRED MINER FOUND DEAD IN BED-The body of Johnn McPartland, 
70 years of age, retired coal miner, was found dead in bed at bis 
home 15 Valley Street this morning by a member of the family.  Mr. 
McPartland had retired at 11 o'clock last night in apparently normal 
health and it is not definitely known when death occcurred.  Mr. 
McPartland is survived by three daughters and and four sons: Misses 
Helen and Catherine McPartland, at home; Mrs. Thomas C. Stakem and 
John McPartland, this city; Richard, of California, and Bernard and 
Patrick McPartland, Lonaconing."
