"Evening Times" Cumberland, Maryland, 30 May 1907: 
"Mrs. John Melvin, of Stoyer, W. Va., died at the home of her parents, 
Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Morris, in Paradise Monday afternoon. Mrs. Melvin 
had been sick for a long time and was lately removed from her home in 
Stoyer to that of her parents in Paradise. She was a member of the 
Roman Catholic Church and was about 22 years of age. She is survived 
by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Morris, her husband, Mr. John 
Melvin, and by the following brothers and sisters: Messrs. Thomas, 
John and Ambrose, and Mrs. Sullivan, of Frostburg, and Miss Laura, 
of Midland. The funeral took place from St. Joseph's Catholic Church 
today at nine o'clock. Rev F. P. Mackall preached the funeral sermon. 
The floral contributions were many and beautiful."
