Cumberland Times, Cumberland, Maryland, 23 Feb 1947: 
"Mrs. Mary Monahan, 91, widow of John Monahan, died yesterday at 
the home of a daughter, Mrs. Cecelia Ackerson, Bedford road. She 
was a native of Ireland but spent most of her life in Lonaconing.  
Also surviving are two other daughters, Mrs. Mary Green, Frostburg 
and Mrs. Margaret Green, Lonaconing; three sons, Edward Monahan, 
Frostburg; James and John Monahan, both of Lonaconing; a brother, 
Henry Freel, Baltimore; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Pugh, and Mrs. Amy 
Ward, both of Frostburg; 68 grandchildren and 24 great 
grandchildren. The body will remain at the home of her son, Edward, 
82 West Main street, Frostburg.  Services will be conducted Tuesday 
at 9:30 a. m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, and 
interment will be in the church cemetery."
