Monahan, 40, retired businessman died early this morning at his home, 77 West Loo street, after a year's illness. He owned and operated a grocery store on West Main street until last November when he retired due to failing health. Mr. Monahan was a native and lifelong resident of Frostburg. His parents were the late Patrick and Elizabeth Monahan. He belonged to Frostburg Lodge No. 470, B. P. O. Elks, and St. Michael's Catholic Church. Besides his widow, Mrs. Sarah (Gerson) Monahan, he is survived by three brothers, Leonard Monahan, Detroit; Edward Monahan, San Diego, Calif., and Joseph Monahan, at home, and two sisters, Mrs. George Malloy, Mt. Savage, and Mrs. Margaret Stapleton, Frostburg. The body is at the residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete."
