"The Cumberland News" Cumberland, Maryland, Mon 3 Nov 1969: 
"Francis D. Murphy, 704 Brookfield Avenue, died yesterday. A native of Lonaconing, he was a 
son of the late Michael J. and Mary J. (Dougherty) Murphy, Mr. Murphy was a retired employe 
of the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church; Chief 
Justice Taney Assembly. Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, and Wamba Caravan, Order of the 
Alhambra. Surviving are his widow, Edna G. (Miller) Murphy; a son, Francis D. Murphy, Jr., 
at home, and a sister, Miss Rose D. Murphy, Ridgeley. The body is at the Funeral Home where 
friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m."
