Mrs. Patrick Murphy, one of the oldest most highly respected ladies of this community, died somewhat suddenly yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Cunningham. She rose yesterday morning in perfect health and ate a good breakfast. Towards noon, however, she fell ill and died at 3 o'clock just as the Catholic church bell, which rings at 3 o'clock on Friday afternoon in commemoration of the death of Our Lord, began to ring. She was 82 years old and was born in Louth, County Louth, Ireland. About 35 years ago she came to this country and with the exception of one year in Vale Summit, has lived in Midland ever since her arrival. She is survived by two sons and one daughter, Mr. Thos. Murphy, who is now State Mine Inspector, and well known through this part of the country; Mr. Michael Murphy, a prosperous business man of this place, and Mrs. John Cunningham, also of this place. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Seminary (sic), Lonaconing. The time of the funeral has not as yet been determined, but in all probability will be on Monday Morning."
