She came from Scotland to Piedmont in 1882. Her husband was killed on the B & O Railroad near Oakland in 1885. Three sons survive: Edward and James at Oakmont and Peter in Washington, D.C. The latter served as a soldier in the Philippines and is now in government service. It was Mrs. O'Brien's home that the men McGraw, Duggan and Lahew were burned to death last Friday night and no doubt this catastrophe was indirectly the cause of Mrs. O'Brien's sudden death. Funeral took place from St. Peter's Church, Westernport this morning at 10 o'clock, with interment in the church cemetery."
