"The Mountain City Times" 24 May 1873: "
Killed Tuesday evening {20 May 1873} a boy named John O'Brien, aged 15 
years, son of Mr. and Mrs. John O'Brien, of Barton, was run over by the 
cars of the train road of Potomac Mine, one leg was cut off and he 
sustained other injuries causing his death shortly after..."
