"Frostburg Mining Journal, Frostburg, Maryland, Oct 1879: "
In the Potomac Mines at Barton Tuesday, John O'Brien was crushed to 
death by a fall of breast coal. He was a man of family and about 46 
years old." 


"The Keyser Tribune" Keyser, West Virginia, 25 Oct 1879: "
John O'Brien, a miner employed in the Potomac mine at Barton, was 
killed last Tuesday by a fall of breast coal. He was about 45 years 
old and leaves a wife and several children."
