"Cumberland Evening Times" Cumberland, Maryland, 3 Jul 1957: "
Patrick Joseph O'Brien, 73, retired superintendent of the coating department 
of the Luke Mill of the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co., died yesterday at 
Sacred Heart Hospital where he had been a patient since Sunday. Mr. O'Brien, 
who resided on Luke Hill at Luke was a life-long resident of that area. He 
was born at Piedmont, a son of the late John and Bridget (Graney) O'Brien. 
He retired from the Luke Mill in 1943 after completing 44 years of service. 
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport; Piedmont 
Council 685 Knights of Columbus; Chief Justice Taney General Assembly, 
Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge 
at Frostburg and was a member of that organization for half a century. 
Surviving in addition to his widow, Mrs. Sara (MacMillan) O'Brien, are three 
daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Sullivan, Hagerstown; Mrs. Kitty Atkinson, 
Westernport, and Mrs. Sara Ann Cook, Arlington, Va.; three sons, John T., 
Martinsburg, W. Va.; Patrick J., Jr., Hyattsville and William T. O'Brien, at 
home; and a brother, William T. O'Brien, Grafton, W. Va.,; and 11 
grandchildren. The body is at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont. The 
rosary will be recited at the funeral home tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. A requiem 
mass will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 
Westernport. Interment will be in the parish cemetery."
