The Herald, Piedmont, West Virginia, Thu 21 Aug 1941: 
"Cumberland, Aug. 16-John E. O'Neill, 70, died suddenly of a 
paralytic stroke last night at his home, 509 Woodside avenue. 
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary E. O'Neill; three sons, 
Edward, John L., and Richard F. O'Neill; four daughters, Mrs. 
Emma Davis, Mrs. Mary Wilson, Mrs. Valys T. Jay and Miss 
Genevieve M. O'Neill, all of Cumberland; one brother, Richard 
O'Neill, of Piedmont; and eight sisters, Mrs. Emma Combs, of 
Westernport; Mrs. Josephine Hughes, of Moorefield, W. Va.; 
Mrs. Martha Howard, of Bloomington; Mrs. Sarah McGoye and 
Miss Clara O'Neill, of Piedmont; Miss Katie Sherry and Miss 
Rose O'Neill, of this city."
