The Charleston Gazette, Charleston, West Virginia, 
Wed 25 March 25, 1953: 
"Eli Pendlebury, 73, of 7343 Second Av., South Charleston, 
died yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. 
Ruth McBride, after a heart attack.  A retired miner, Mr. 
Pendleberry had been a resident of South Charleston for 24 
years. He lived formerly at Lonaconing, Md.  Surviving are 
his wife, Mrs. Stella Pendleberry, two sons, William, of 
St. Albans, and Lewis, of Charleston; another daughter, 
Miss Virginia Pendleberry, of South Charleston; one sister, 
Miss Cecelia Pendleberry, of Lonaconing, Md.; and one 
brother, Richard, of Lonaconing, Md.  The body is at 
Snodgrass mortuary."
