The Herald, Piedmont, West Virginia, Thur 9 June 1981: 
"Mrs. John W. Porter-Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the Boal Memorial 
Chapel in Barton, Md., for Ellen N. Porter, 102, who died Friday in the Egle Nursing 
Home in Lonaconing, Md.  The Rev. Donald Spear and the Rev. Harold Malone officiated 
and burial was in Laurel Hill cemetery, Moscow Mills...Born in Barton, she was a 
daughter of the late Jefferson and Harriett (Moore) Howell.  She was preceded in 
death by her husband, John W. Porter.  Mrs. Porter was a member of the Barton 
Presbyterian Church and the Barton Senior Citizens Club.  She is survived by three 
daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Saville and Mrs. Felicit Moses, both of Barton and Mrs. 
Jennie Ross of Piedmont, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and four great 
great grandchildren."
