MRS. EDWARD PORTER
PETERSBURG -- Mrs. Ollie Vernon Porter, 68, of Petersburg, died last night in 
Grant Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born July 22, 1907 in Hardy County, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and 
Mary Jane (Crites) Weese.
Surviving are her husband, Edward C. Porter; five daughters, Mrs. Helen George, 
Mrs. Mary Hartman and Mrs. Shelva Rumer, all of Petersburg; Miss Marge Porter, 
at home, and Mrs. Lucy Rumer, Ashville, Ohio; three sons, Eston Porter, Paul 
Porter and Curtis Porter, all of Petersburg; three brothers, Orland Weese, 
baltimore, Gleen Weese, Hyattsville, and Lester Weese, Harregate, Tenn.; 16 
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Schaeffer Funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. 
and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Doyle 
Payne officiating.  Interment will be in Lahmansville Cemetery.
