CHARLES EDWARD RAINES
Charles Edward Raines, 82, of Baltimore Pike, died yesterday in Sacred Heart 
Hospital, where he had been a patient for three years.  His wife, Carrie R. 
Raines, died July 19, 1966.
Mr. Raines was a son of the late Martin and Cynthia (Hedrick) Raines, born 
March 20, 1884, at Riverton, W. Va.
He was employed for many years by the Parsons Pulp and Lumber Company at 
Horton, W. Va., before coming here.  He was engaged as a dairyman on Baltimore 
Avenue prior to his retirement several years ago.
Surviving are four sons, Harry, Lester, John and George Raines, this city; a 
daughter, Mrs. Vanna Wilson, here; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; 
one brother, Ora Raines, Riverton and a sister, Mary Webster of Florida.
The body is at the Silcox Funeral Home where friends will be received today 
from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home by Rev. 
Joseph R. Gardiner, pastor of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, with interment 
in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
The family has request that memorials be made to the church building fund in 
lieu of flowers.
